Merry Merry Bunting TUTORIAL
It's almost December, can you believe it?? And we're on week 10 of the TWELVE WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS!Welcome to everyone from Bluprint Textiles. This week, we're making some merry bunting!1. Fabric: You'll need a Fat Quarter (or a 1/4 yard) of red and green. I chose chartreuse and a deep coral:) You will also need a 1/4 yard of flannel, 1/6 yard of Wonder Under (or similar fusible) and 3 yards of cording (I used 1/8" cotton cording).2. Cutting the Circles: Cut five 4" circles from each color. I used the Olfa Circle Cutter; it's pretty awesome! You can also trace a roll of masking tape and cut with scissors, old school style.Cut ten 4" circles from the flannel.3. Making the Merry: Print the template. It is ALREADY REVERSED. Trace onto the Wonder Under fusible. You will need two of each letter.Press the fusible to the back of the fabric. You will need one merry in each color.Cut out MERRY MERRY.Press the green letters onto the red circles. And the red letters onto the green. If your background is directional, make sure to align all the circles properly.4. Assembling the Bunting: Align each circle with a flannel circle.Pin the circles to the cording as shown. The cording is in between the fabric circle and the flannel circle. Make sure to put a pin through the cording. I left about 18" on either end for hanging. I put 2" in between each circle and 4" between the two merries.Topstitch around each circle about 1/8" from the edge. You will have to take care as you go over the cording. And you're done! Since the holidays are upon us, you may now hang your creation!!Let me know if you have any questions! Merry! Merry!!xo LC
