Quilt Carolina & MY Trunk Show
Last week kicked off Quilt Carolina, a shop hop throughout the Triangle and the Triad. (For folks not in the know, the Raleigh area is called the Research Triangle and the Winston-Salem/Greensboro/High Point area is called the Triad.) I headed out on multiple days with multiple friends and saw all fifteen shops! I visited my hometown shops I already knew I loved (Sew Original, The Little General, Sewingly Yours, Knit One Smock Too) and shops down the road that I love (Studio Stitch, Thimble Pleasures, Wish Upon a Quilt) and discovered a few new favorites (Cary Quilting Co, Carolina Sew & Vac, The Sewing Shoppe). Naturally, I had to buy something from every shop! And naturally, I overbought and overspent!!But the most exciting part of Quilt Carolina for me is happening at Sew Original! Shirley is featuring local talent and asked May Chappell and Sew Sisters (that's my talented friends Lisa Alley & Karen Fridy) to hang a trunk show and bring in all our patterns. It will be up through this week, so check it out! This is my Modern Crosses from the book Modern Log Cabin Quilting by Susan Beal. And my new wall hanging pattern All Squared Up! Then a voile version of the spiderweb quilt. And finally, my other new pattern Lazy Sunday! Here is my wonky star pattern with fussy cut centers, Fantastically Fussy. Then my Animals on Parade pattern. A HUGE thank you to Debbie Yeager!! This is her quilt that she made in my class (quilted by the talented Gina Boone) and she loaned it to me because all of mine are either in other shops or have been gifted. Then my Color Theory star. The paper pieced star is by Six White Horses. And the debut of my MAY CHAPPELL wall hanging with paper pieced letters by From Blank Pages. And my Designer Star in Alchemy!! This is by far my favorite of all the Designer Stars I've made. I'm not sure I'll ever attempt quilting like that again, but it makes me happy! Then I have all my patterns available! And my Lunch Time Tote, tutorial on Ellison Lane. The patterns are available online with Etsy and Craftsy, but I'd rather you support a local quilt shop if you live nearby! Sew Original Winston-Salem and Sewingly Yours carry all of them. And lots are available at Linderellas, Papananas, Studio Stitch and Sew Original Boone. Also pictured is my Basketweave table runner featuring the basketweave star by Nydia of The ADD-Crafter.Here is my All Sewn Up sewing kit! Such a fun little project. And my Liberty Spools from the book Liberty Love by Alexia Abegg. And finally my Granny Squares quilt! I love the colors of this one!! And my Scrappy Star! This is from the book Quilting from Little Things by Sarah Fielke. The gorgeous quilts laying on the frame are by Amanda Murphy. She did a trunk show and lecture on Saturday.I cannot tell you how amazing it was to see so much of my work together in one place. It's not everything, but it's certainly the most that has ever been together. Thank you so much to Shirley for the opportunity!! I hope y'all will get to check it out!xo LC
