Only for my Brother
Last year, I decided last minute (read: Christmas Eve) to make my brother a Pave the Way quilt. This year, I promised I'd be more timely. The best laid plans...So on Christmas Eve morning, I dug out the Peanuts® fabric that I'd bought to make a Christmas quilt for the brother! I had bought the fabric in a timely manner:)
Pretty soon, I had blocks in rows!
Mid morning, my family left for lunch at my cousin's in Charlotte. We had a white elephant gift exchange and I got this awesome pillow made by my cousin Miriam. She's pretty awesome!
After a full day of family fun, I was back at it! I gave a play by play on Instagram. Everyone was so supportive, so I believed it would happen!
Before I went to bed, I had a quilt top!
Luckily my brother likes to sleep in! I got up early and quilted like a madwoman. I used this fun variegated Aurifil. I'm not usually pro variegated, but this was red, green, lime and white. Perfect for this project!!
UPDATE: This is the thread I used. It's 50 weight. It's color 4650. I got it on the Over the Rainbow set, but I bet you can purchase it separately.
I finished just as my brother got up. I quickly sewed on the binding! I gifted it with all but the hand sewing complete. It was a whirlwind, but totally worth it!
My brother and I loved to read the Peanuts books at our grandparent's house. The Peanuts Christmas story is a favorite for us, so I thought he would like this! He did;)
Here's a close up of the swirly quilting and thread.
The Guru and I both worked on the binding. We finished!
I'm not really sure what I was thinking when I bought this fabric. I bought the panel, three half yards of red, green and blue & 1 1/3 yards of the white for the backing. I used everything!! Seriously. These are my scraps.
We had a very merry Christmas! And I hope y'all had a nice holiday whatever your celebrations!xo LC
