City Sampler Blocks are Finished!
My first two classes are finished with their blocks! I'm so proud of each and every one of them! Each set of blocks is unique and amazing in their own way. This class was a real commitment and I've enjoyed watching the quilts develop. Debbie used grey, black and white with hits of pink. The pink accents are just perfect! And I love that the sashing frames it without overpowering.
Sue is working on rows! Her Kaffe blocks are bright and bold. The fussy cuts are great because there are so many interesting shapes in Kaffe fabric. Love!!
Theresa's are just gorgeous! She's still deciding between a random layout and doing a more organized version. The color palette is superb!! Her fabric selection is spot on.
Gail's blocks are AMAZING! She worked with a lot of colors, but not the whole rainbow. She chose the same types of colors so she crossed fabric lines with no problem. They're just wonderful!!
Tomoe finished her quilt top! She decided to show a subtle gradation from light to dark. Black and white definitely posed some challenges, but she really pulled it off perfectly!
The Guru's blocks are awesome!! She used mostly Denyse Schmidt Florence with a few extra accent fabrics. She's doing the skyscraper arrangement but making it much larger than the book.
And mine! I've got on most of the sashing. I've also got 101 blocks...hmmm...mysterious. I'm thinking random layout. I'm also planning to ship this puppy to a longarmer. I've reached the moment where I just want it DONE!
We celebrated with mimosas! Cheers!!
I made each person a pinnie to celebrate! I miniaturized the look of block 21. I used the colors of each individual's 100 blocks for their pinnie!
The evening class was missing quite a few folk, but we still celebrated! Lori with her pinnie!!
Sarah brought her stack of blocks! I cannot believe that just two summers ago, I taught her to quilt!! She had never sewn on a machine or used a rotary before that. It's quite an accomplishment to be holding nearly 100 sampler blocks now!
Sarah's blocks overflowed the design wall! Aren't they fabulous?! She has so many hidden gems of fussy cutting in there. I'm so proud!!
Joan laid out her blocks at home. She's doing a rainbow arrangement and it's awesome! So bright and cheerful!!
We debated Joan's sashing and this is the winner. It's a great grey dot with little bright dots!
Sarah and Joan love their pinnies! Patti & Cynthia were missed, but their pinnies are waiting for them.
I can't wait for them to all become quilts!xo LC
