Winter Wonderland Ornament TUTORIAL

Today we are kicking off the Christmas in July series with Sewlux Fabric! Supplies: You need six fat eighths (three red and three white) to make three ornaments. I used this adorable Winter Wonderland bundle. You'll also need 1 yard of Wonder Under or a similar lightweight double sided fusible and three feet of ribbon or small ric rac for the hanger.2. Fusing: Fuse the Wonder Under to the wrong side of the three red pieces of fabric.Remove the protective paper from the Wonder Under. (Helpful Hint: If you let it cool for about twenty minutes, it comes off much easier.) Fuse a piece of white fabric to the back of each piece of red fabric.3. Cutting: Cut eight 3" circles from each piece. I used my AccuQuilt.You could also use an Olfa circle cutter or trace a can and cut with scissors.4. Ordering & Marking: Place the circles in order alternating between the two designs being face up.Using a Frixion Pen or similar erasable marking tool, draw a line through the center of the top circle.Attach all eight circles together with Clover Wonderclips. Mark the back circle as you marked the front being careful to align the marks. I used my clips to tell me where the line was on the other side.Clip the hanger to the ornament along the line on each side. It should come down the ornament approximately 1".5. Stitching: Stitch along the line. Back stitch at the beginning and end.NOTE: If you're having difficulty with sewing through so many layers, you can skip the back stitching and tie off the ends. If you're still having trouble, you can reduce the number of circles to six. (It must be an even number.)Erase the marking pen.Use pins to mark approximately 1/3 down on each piece. You're pinning together at the top and alternating by pinning at the bottom. You're also pinning a new piece each time, using one of the pieces you previously pinned. Make sure that the pieces with the hanger attached are hidden underneath by pinning at the top of those pieces.Stitch near the edge, back stitching at the beginning and end. I used my Bernina #10 foot with the needle moved over three spots.It should look like this.
