A Splendid Block
I was thrilled when Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson decided to do another Splendid Sampler book and even more thrilled when they invited me to join the list of talented designers! Here is my block! My block is called Come Together. For me, a huge part of quilting is gathering a great crew together and stitching up a storm. I have an awesome group that heads to the Smoky Mountains and sets up around an old farm table (and a card table or two...) for a weekend of quilting, laughing and usually a smore! There are always piles of quilts and Mack the chihuahua underfoot. Quilting is often a solitary hobby so it's fun to bring together your pals for group stitching. Every quilter needs some quilty friends!I'm making my sampler quilt with bright red, lime and navy. And maybe a hint of turquoise. My version of the Come Together block obviously needed a pup in the middle of the gathering. My original was a mix of subdued versions of the same colors. When you're making Come Together, you'll be making some (tiny) half square triangles (or HSTs as the cool kids say) and some (also tiny) flying geese. All the pieces seem tiny when the blocks finish 6", but isn't that part of the charm? Check out one of my favorite Tuesday Tips for perfecting your HSTs and geese that helps you mark the fabric accurately. If you're just visiting my blog for the first time, welcome! I have loads of tips and patterns. If you want to read more about me, you'll find that here and if you want to take one of my classes, check out my upcoming events or my Bluprint (formerly Craftsy) class. Splendid Sampler 2 is full of amazingness. Full disclosure, I am a lurker and love to head down the rabbit hole of looking at all the blocks in the Facebook group. Check it out if you want some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!xx LC
