Calling All Aspiring Sewists
Do you know someone who's always wanted to learn to stitch? Or are you looking to hone your skills? Great news! I'm offering a new course Jump into Sewing: Basic Tools & Techniques on Creative Spark online. It's the same platform where I've done The Quilting Hour (season two coming soon!) and Tips of the Trade. The best part of Creative Spark is everything is recorded for easy reviewing.
The course will follow along with my book, Jump into Sewing! In fact, an ebook is included with the course. Student's will learn all the basics, starting with the sewing machine, how to use your notions and all about supplies. I will demonstrate common sewing skills including scissor cutting, rotary cutting, stitching, buttons, buttonholes, straps and more! It will last for five weeks, meeting live for two hours per week.
We will also look at thread and fabric. You'll learn about how to select the right fabric for each project and which thread to pair with it. We will practice sewing a straight seam and make simple woven napkins.
Then we will make the pillowcase project from the book. This project teaches the basics of cutting large pieces, pinning and french seams.
Then we will make the simple pencil pouch from the book. You'll learn about using interfacing, putting in a zipper and rounding the corners of the pouch.
