Retreat to Montreat

This past weekend, the guru and I went on a quilting retreat to Montreat! Fresh mountain air and sewing- the perfect combo:)You could see snow from Black Mountain which is crazy! We started out the weekend by eating at Veranda with Debbie. We LOVE Veranda! And then we did some shopping around Black Mountain. Then we got to sewing!! I caught up on bee blocks which makes me feel good. Here are a few of my favorites. This rainbow block is for Katy. She had to drop out of the bee, but I wanted her to have my blocks anyway;) I'm loving how the black and white polka dot makes the pezzy prints pop! I secretly want to keep this. And Melissa asked for aquas and grey. It's very serene. Her quilt is going to be beautiful!!Then I worked on my log cabin. This puppy has been nearly a year in the making. Log cabins are not fast in the best of times. And this one is just for me! It's not a shop sample, it's not a gift, it's not for a pattern...and this all means that it never gets worked on! But I made progress!! I love it so much that it's the header for the blog...one day it will be finished. And still be the header for my blog! This is where it is. I want to add an extra block all the way around. And I pieced a lot. I'm about halfway through the extra 28 blocks I need. The guru worked on her hand appliqué house quilt. She's getting closer! I CANNOT WAIT to show ya'll the finished product, but it will be in 2013. Stay tuned.Debbie made some adorable bags- no pics:(. And then she worked on her voile quilt. She took my voile quilt class last month. She is working on her last set of blocks!!In addition to all the sewing, there was lots of socializing! A good time was had by all. Debbie & Lisa!Everyone working away!Justiann was a finishing fool! She completed this amazing vintage inspired wall hanging. And this awesome chevron neutral quilt top! She got all these fabrics from a charm swap. She also finished a Nightshade quilt top, but I didn't get a pic:(Cyndi is making an amazing red/cream quilt from the Sunday Morning Quilts book. It's going to be gorgeous!!I fell in love with this squirrel fabric and she hooked me up with a piece. If anyone knows what this is, let me know! She also had these airplanes in her quilt. I want it too! Does anyone know what it is?? It looks like a reproduction print. It was a great weekend with new and old friends and tons of sewing! We had a blast:) I should have taken more pics. We went on a shopping adventure to all the quilt shops in the Asheville area. And so many people were making amazing things that I didn't get pictures of:( But a good time was had by all...and that's what's important!xo LC
