Feeling Sew Sew Modern

Another round of SEW SEW MODERN just wrapped up on Flickr! And as usual, I'm blown away by the amazingness that everyone whipped up! From weekenders to pillows to totes...the bar was certainly raised!!My partner (who shall remain nameless until she receives her package) asked for a bag of some sort. She mentioned that a laptop sleeve would be handy. And that she wanted an everyday tote. She loves low volume and grey with pops of color.

I hoard low volume charms so I decided I'd piece the pocket. And I had some pearl bracelets in bright colors for the accent!

20130529-181706.jpgI used the new Noodlehead SUPER Tote pattern. It's awesome! And as per the usual with Noodlehead patterns, it's well written and easy to follow! I modified the interior pockets. I made one sleeve padded to hold a laptop. I would probably still keep my laptop in a protective sleeve and then put it in this pocket, but that's because I'm a nut:) I made this by cutting two extra exterior pockets and lining them with fusible fleece. I sewed them wrong sides together across the top edge, flipped and pressed. I topstitched and attached to the lining the same way the pattern advises for interior pockets.

20130529-182115.jpgI'm really liking these two sided straps! This will be my new favorite strap making technique...love it!!

20130529-184334.jpgI made the other interior pocket flat and sewed one side to hold a phone. Phone pockets are the best!

20130529-182701.jpgFor my small gift, I made a coordinating pouch for her chargers and cords. I thought that would be a nice bonus:)

20130529-183646.jpgI pieced a strip of chevrons to match the tote. More low volume yumminess.

20130529-183706.jpgAnd I added one of my favorite books to the package. I can't wait for it all to arrive!!
