Flame Forest

Sometimes I just fall in love with a fabric and have to make a quilt just to use it. This is my relationship with Carolyn Friedlander's stem print from Botanics in Tangerine.

20140601-094721-35241506.jpgSo I decided to add some natural linen and make log cabin cross blocks. I used the block from the modern cross quilt Modern Log Cabin Quilting by Susan Beal.

20140601-095121-35481944.jpgOf course I had to reverse one block for an accent square.

20140601-095244-35564801.jpgI had some help on this project!! The ironing fairy was a dream during the Sewingly Yours lock in. And my sweet friend Gail did the binding. She's my favorite.

20140601-100607-36367604.jpgFor the back, I made five extra blocks into a cross. The backing is the same stem print in a different colorway.

20140601-100818-36498682.jpgI quilted with little loops in rows.
