Flame Forest
Sometimes I just fall in love with a fabric and have to make a quilt just to use it. This is my relationship with Carolyn Friedlander's stem print from Botanics in Tangerine.
So I decided to add some natural linen and make log cabin cross blocks. I used the block from the modern cross quilt Modern Log Cabin Quilting by Susan Beal.
Of course I had to reverse one block for an accent square.
I had some help on this project!! The ironing fairy was a dream during the Sewingly Yours lock in. And my sweet friend Gail did the binding. She's my favorite.
For the back, I made five extra blocks into a cross. The backing is the same stem print in a different colorway.
I quilted with little loops in rows.
