What's Cooking?
I was quite excited when Amy Gibson's new book arrived on my doorstep. She's of the famed Stitchery Dickory Dock. It's called The Quilt Block Cookbook and is published by Lucky Spool. The photography is lovely so I immediately spent some time flipping through. It doesn't take long for me to grab some fabric and start plotting.I love this block and see it in my future. I really wanted to make a single block for a pillow. This block has a lot of background so I decided to keep looking.Of course the book didn't disappoint. There are fifty block designs. And really endless possibilities because the blocks combine with one another quite well and Amy has included TONS of size options in charts in the back of the book. This is the block I finally chose. A whole quilt of these would be epic. I used Emily Herrick's adorable Up & Away fabric from Michael Miller. This is one of my favorite blocks in the book. The combination of curves and straights will surely create interesting shapes as the blocks interact. One huge bonus of the book is a nice photo fully showing each block. It's the perfect combination of fabulous photography while also showing the work!I think this book would be perfect for almost any skill level as you can choose simple, fast blocks or more complicated piecing. Amy has also included a great section for designing your quilt! You can ask your local quilt shop to order a copy or it is available on Amazon. Be sure to check out all the stops on her blog hop.xx LCPS: I received this book for free. I'm telling you about it because I find it interesting and valuable:)
