More Masks
The Guru and I have been furiously making masks for our local hospital. It's surreal that our health care workers are turning to home sewists, but this is where we are. I just got an email from a sewing bud that ended with "2020: zero stars. would not recommend." I could not agree more!
Wake Forest Baptist Hospital worked with Sew Original to take some locally made masks and put them through testing to evaluate the effectiveness of homemade masks. They found that high quality quilter's cotton and high quality batiks actually tested slightly higher than surgical masks. Here's the article.
My studio looks like a mask sewing room! I have made around 200 masks for Baptist and will continue to make charitable masks as I see fit. But now I'm getting a lot of requests from individuals. Here is what my masks look like up close. They feature three pleats and ties. All the seams are stitched twice and the ties are serged.
There's a coated metal wire at the nose for a snug fit.
There is also a pocket in the back if the wearer wants to add a rated filter.
The masks are $25 each including shipping. You may purchase two to five masks. Masks will ship within 1-3 days of your order. Local orders may be delivered. If the orders exceed my sewing time, I will remove the button. When I catch up, I will put the button back. You can put in a fabric request such as: floral, bright, professional, neutral, masculine. However, I cannot guarantee these requests; I will do my best with what I have. Payment is through PayPal, but you do not need a PayPal account.
